Most supplement content online is written by marketers, not scientists.
The Label Truth exists because of that gap. I’m Cris Canto — MSc in Chemistry, 25 years working in R&D and quality control for the supplement and pharmaceutical industry. I’ve spent my career on the inside: reading formulations, auditing manufacturing processes, and understanding the distance between what labels claim and what research actually supports.
This site is what I wish existed when I was advising people on what to take.
How We Review
We Start With the Label — Not the Marketing
Most reviews lead with brand claims. We lead with the supplement facts panel. Every ingredient, every dosage, every form, every excipient. Before reading a single study, we understand exactly what’s in the bottle.
We Compare Doses to Research
This is where most supplements fail. A product can list a clinically studied ingredient and still be useless — if the dose is a fraction of what research used. We always compare the label dose to the effective dose from peer-reviewed studies, and we tell you when they don’t match.
We Cite PubMed, Not Press Releases
Every claim on this site links to published research — primarily from PubMed. We don’t cite manufacturer studies, influencer claims, or “studies suggest” without showing you the study. If the research is weak, we say so.
We Have No Sponsored Content
We are not paid to write positive reviews. We do use affiliate links — which means we earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no cost to you. But our editorial conclusions are never influenced by affiliate relationships. We link to products we’d recommend regardless.
My Background
- MSc in Chemistry — graduate research in analytical chemistry
- 25 years in R&D and quality control — pharmaceutical and supplement manufacturing
- Formulation experience — I’ve worked with the same ingredient suppliers and contract manufacturers that brands use
- No conflicts of interest — The Label Truth has no investor relationships, brand partnerships, or sponsored content agreements
What We Won’t Do
- Recommend a product because it has a popular ingredient (dose matters)
- Cite animal studies as proof for human outcomes without flagging the limitation
- Ignore proprietary blends without noting that doses are hidden
- Write a positive review because we have an affiliate relationship
